A kitchen table that would accommodate all five of us and most of us now, kids included our adult size, and so we needed a bit of a bigger table. So we decided to look for an oval kind of table, but we have a very small dining area in our house and so we needed one that was three approximately three feet by five feet. So we went to the Habitat for Humanity, Restore and found this great oval table with four chairs. Uh to you know up especially on the surface of the table, and so in spite of that, we decided to get. It was a really good deal and of course, it came with the chairs, and the chairs are one thing: we really needed, we've been using benches, but the kids are just getting too big for the benches.
The benches keep slamming into the wall and things like that and when they're trying to get up and so as useful as those benches were when the kids were small and when we had a lot of little ones running around they're, not he's useful anymore. So this table, so it came with the table and the four chairs, and so then we headed to Walmart to pick up some stuff to do the refinishing. So what I decided on was min-wax um, wood sheen, it's water-based, it's a rubbing, stain, and finish, and it is in the color plantation walnut', and so it's just one of those things where you rub it on and you wipe it off.
This is burnt umber and then, of course, we did the polyurethane over top. So here's the finished product - and I really love how the top turned out. I mean that the stain before was peeling an icky, and now it just looks beautiful gorgeous. The color really shows well - and the bottom, of course, is that cream vintage e distressed look, which is great because in a house with lots of kids running around and so on, it's gonna get beat up even more love to hear your experience.
